continue your social pedagogy journey

after the mooc

where to go from here

The MOOC offers a starting point for understanding social pedagogy across six European countries. But social pedagogy and social education are practised, studied and developed in many more places around the world. Whether you want to discover how social pedagogy looks in other countries, connect with an international community, read the latest research or deepen your own practice, the resources below will help you take the next step.

How are social pedagogy and social education organised, regulated and studied around the world? Our interactive world map brings this together country by country. It is built on the Global Alliance’s crowd-sourced contributor document, extended and checked against current sources. Select a country to see its entry.

Professional regulations change over time, so please check the source links and national associations for the latest position. Spotted something missing or out of date? Email the Global Alliance at globalalliance4socialpedagogy@gmail.com.

The Global Alliance is a community of people across the globe who are interested in social pedagogy and social education as perspectives supporting a more eco-socially just world. It is a free, non-hierarchical movement rather than a membership organisation, with volunteers working together in teams on research, the development of practice, networking, external engagement and journal collaboration.

Joining is free. It is a great way to stay connected with fellow learners after the MOOC, take part in online events and contribute to the growing international conversation about social pedagogy.

The International Journal of Social Pedagogy (IJSP), published by UCL Press, is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to social pedagogy and social education. It brings together research, theory and practice from around the world, making it an ideal next step if you want to explore the ideas introduced in the MOOC in more depth.
